The Portugal Euro 2024 squad started with victory on opening day, getting things off to a strong start as they gun for glory this summer.
The Euro 2016 winners are one of the favourites at Euro 2024, thanks to their superb run in qualification and the stacks of talent at their fingertips, with Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to prove a point. And a last-minute winner against Czech Republic in their opening match certainly helped - though it was substitute Francisco Conceicao who popped up with the decisive goal, and not their captain Ronaldo.
CR7 is 39 years young – but incredibly, not the oldest outfielder, with backline cruncher Pepe now 41. This is a squad with considerable experience and quality in the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Bernado Silva, Joao Felix, Rafel Leao, Ruben Dias and Ruben Neves, while Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves and Antonio Silva represent younger faces getting their chance.
Former Belgium boss Roberto Martinez is at the helm but there isn't too much change: the only major talking points in the selection process of this tournament were the omissions of Raphael Guerreiro and Ricardo Horta.
Portugal's reamining group games will see them face Turkey and Georgia, both sides they'd expect to remain unbeaten against as they target the top spot in Group F.

Portugal Euro 2024 top scorers
1 goal: Sergio Conceicao
Portugal manager: Roberto Martinez
Roberto Martinez quickly made friends with his communication skills, but it is more than a charm offensive that has seduced local media and fans.
The Spanish ex- Belgium boss has not been afraid to experiment with tactics or personnel, an increasingly cohesive outfit visibly improving. He turns 51 the day before the final, too…
Portugal's star player
Bruno Fernandes
At a time when his club form has wavered, Bruno Fernandes has been consistently exceptional for his country.
The 29-year-old is the Selecao's true leader and outshines both Bernardo Silva and Joao Felix, erstwhile pretenders to Cristiano Ronaldo's crown. Portugal need that game-changing creativity to continue if they want to go deep.
